Who
Ernie Knodel, founder of Stark Management, is enjoying a 30+ year career in all aspects of real estate management, development, construction, sales and leasing. Ernie's experience is partially a product of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). He was born and raised in Canada and started his career in construction and development. After 12 years of providing clients with creative real estate solutions with his own firm, Ernie relocated his family to the United States. Over the past 12 years, he provided his expertise on projects across the United States and Mexico.
In Canada, Ernie started his career with a North American developer providing project management services on a variety of projects including multi-residential apartment buildings and nuclear facilities. He developed a scheduling program that provided the firm with a record construction schedule of six months to construct a 6 story, 100 unit seniors facility. Prior to starting his own management/consulting firm, Ernie was employed with a major Canadian bank managing their bank-owned real estate assets. As a management consultant, he represented shopping center developers and retailers such as Denny's Restaurants and Blockbuster Video.
In 1998, Ernie relocated his expertise and family to the United States under the NAFTA agreement. Starting with streamlining project entitlement and development of residential condominiums, he moved onto industrial development. As a Vice President of AMB Property Corporation, a San Francisco based industrial REIT, Ernie helped establish the company's in-house development strategies. Aside from ground up development, he broadened the company's scope by developing creative solutions to functionally obsolete properties. This included converting manufacturing facilities to port-related distribution facilities, repositioning industrial property to high-density mixed uses and initiating a small building for sale program. Ernie was also responsible for over 6 million square feet of industrial development in Mexico.
Ernie most recently served as Senior Vice President of Venture Corporation responsible for the company's developments, asset management and dispositions. During his tenure, the company grew to be the largest developer of commercial condominiums in the United States.
